Urca de Lima, William Trotter

This painting appears to be a ship sinking during a storm. In the lower left of the painting you can see the crew rowing away in a life boat.
The painting shows good flow of movement by the waves, the ship, and the flags blowing in the wind. There is not much value and shading in the picture other than on the sails a.
Depth is created by the sails of two other ships in the background. The shapes created in the painting are mostly triangles. The only parts of the picture that use lines are on the boats.

Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh

In this picture by Van Gogh, the artist uses alot of cool colors, very little warm color is shown. The moon and stars are examples of warm colors shown by the artist. And cool colors such as the color of the night sky and the buildings contrast to the warm colors. In this landscape, I would have to say it has a 3-Dimentional view when you look at it. As the houses get further away they tend to get smaller and smaller in size. When I look at this picture, I think that the moon really helps the tree stand out. This landscape also has alot of shapes in it too. With the houses the artist uses triangles and rectangles. The moon is a crescent shape and the mountains are ovals. The artist blends the colors together so that it almost looks as if they are flowing like water.

Claude Monet, Venice Twilight
DESCRIPTION

This paintings of A burning sky, as sun sets over lake San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice, Italy. It has curved lines and horizontal lines. It has a range of warm colors with browns and blues to equalize it and give balance. The texture seems fierce and rough/scary. The tower looks like a rectangle and if you trace the outlines of the city it makes a triangle in the painting you can tell it is the skirts of a city while the sun is setting. The visual point of the painting would be the dark shadowed city surrounded by the burning sunset and icy waters.

Sunflowers, Vincent Van Gogh
This is a painting by Vincent Van Gogh, called Sunflowers. This is a painting of flowers in a vase, some of the flowers are tilted over the sides. In this painting I see a lot of curved lines. As for shapes, I mostly see circles. Except the flower pedals make more of a triangle. The only colors I really see are yellow, green, and a little bit of brown. For texture I'd say the flowers look like they have like a soft, fuzzy feeling to them. And the vase, table and wall have a smooth looking texture.
